Getty ImagesTrinity Faith Moran, the 11-year-old fifth-grader who stole the spotlight at Naeem Khan’s fall 2016 runway show, has died.
Stylist Mary Alice Stephenson, who worked with Khan to dress Moran for the catwalk, took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce the sad news.
“My heart is broken. It is with great sorrow that I share this with you today. My beautiful, inspiring friend and shinning light Trinity passed away,” read Stephenson’s caption. “She went to heaven two weeks ago after a very brave battle.” Moran was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer, in 2015.
Moran, of Fort Worth, Texas, wore a red, full-length beaded tulle dress during the finale of Khan’s show. The moment was organized by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Stephenson, who serves as Make-A-Wish’s national fashion ambassador and founder of the Glam4Good campaign, shared that Khan didn’t hesitate to have Moran in his show.
“Rarely does a designer grant a wish during his or her actual show,” the stylist said then. “But Naeem has such a big heart and has been supportive of Make-A-Wish for years. He didn’t even blink; he just said, ‘Let’s do it.’ That’s rare in this industry.”
Moran even had the opportunity to collaborate with the designer on her runway look.
“She loves fashion so much, and he got down on the floor with her, listened to her and started sketching ideas,” Kimberly Rasmus, Trinity’s mother, told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “They drew three different designs together and talked about what would look good on her. It was beyond our wildest dreams.”
