Friends of Target and Victoria Beckham were invited to pre-shop the designer’s highly anticipated Target collaboration this weekend in Bel Air, at the stately home of Mohamed Hadid. Scroll down for the scoop on the most sought-after items, and to see how VB likes to party — in style, of course.
Harper Beckham, 5, and Instagram sensation Heavenly Joy wore matching dresses ($28) while dipping their toes in the vast infinity pool. Harper grabbed a water for her nanny and herself from the bar, and grabbed a few Swedish Fish from the candy bar. Older brother Romeo Beckham rocked Victoria Beckham’s “Fashion Stole My Smile” T-shirt ($150) while paling around with friends.
Purely going off of what women were grabbing by the fistful — there was about a 30-minute window where I was having Black Friday flashbacks —here, the most sought-after pieces.
For children, the girl’s clear flower applique raincoat ($40). Heavy plastic, well-made and very “NOW” — many were complaining that this coat didn’t come in adult sizing. The Lewis Carroll Alice in Wonderland-themed coloring book ($11), sticker book ($6) and paper doll book ($11) completely sold out.
For adults, the mint green lace bomber jacket ($35) was a hot item. Selling at a great price point; mothers scooped them up for future mommy-and-me looks. The lace bomber is a cool alternative to wear over a dress rather than a cardigan. The black-and-blush Catherine Deneuve-inspired dress with rabbits screened on the collar completely sold out for women, but not for children. The dress is a steal ($35) and a great closet staple. The piece de resistance? The black satin, bug-embellished bomber ($70). The highest priced item in the collection, it’s also high-quality, and the rhinestones and glass beaded bugs take it to another level.
Under the same tent, nestled next to a large rabbit topiary, a well-stocked buffet of pink foil chocolates, grapefruit gummy bears and VB-monogrammed mints conjured an old English candy shop. Guests returned again and again to refill their cellophane Victoria Beckham bags. Mini fish-and-chips, vegetarian burgers and grilled cheese, followed by crème fraiche strawberry gelato and mini sticky toffee pudding were served. The food was enjoyed by all, unlike at most fashion events.
There were plenty of activities for children (and adults). The Flower crowns were a hit; crafted with more of an English garden feel than Coachella desert. Kate Mara and Zoe Saldana each made their own. A kids mocktail bar, tic tac toe games, rabbit masks and a photo booth were also big hits.
Last but not least, a model dressed in a glam mermaid look — apparently, a House of Hadid party fixture — flipped and smiled by the pool. Kids were in awe watching the mermaid being carried and placed poolside — and had many questions: “Was she friends with Ariel?” “Why isn’t she swimming now?” “Does she have any friends?” One little party-goer even offered to get her some candy.
