Jessica Chastain — fresh from her red-carpet appearance at Cannes, where her film The Tree of Life won the Palme d’Or — arrived in Lake Perris, Calif., on Monday for motocross lessons from top-ranked pro Davi Millsaps. [Read THR’s review here.]
“Cannes was great. I had two films there, and both of my films won the top prize in their category,” said Chastain at the event. The actress is also the star of the drama Take Shelter, which won the Critics’ Week Grand Prize at Cannes. Regarding her Tree of Life director Terrence Malick, she said: “He’ll be one of my favorite teachers that I’ll ever know my entire life.”
Chastain was among a group of celebs — including Peter and Vandy‘s Jess Weixler and Vampire Diaries’ Steve McQueen — who took part in the Oakley “Learn to Ride” program at Lake Perris’ Starwest Motocross Park.
It was Chastain’s first time getting motorcross bike. “I have a bunch of press tomorrow, and I have a film premiere tomorrow,” she said. “It’s going to be fun when everybody asks what I did on my couple days off to say, ‘Yeah, I went dirt biking.'”
