Solange Knowles to Be Honored at Parsons Benefit [Pret-a-Reporter Inbox]
On May 21, stylish singer-songwriter and activist Solange Knowles will be honored at The New School’s 70th annual Parsons Benefit, to be held at Pier Sixty in New York City and co-chaired by Julie Gilhart and Susan Rockefeller. Other previously announced honorees being recognized for their contributions to fashion, entrepreneurship, technology and sustainability include Gucci president-CEO Marco Bizzarri and Farfetch founder-CEO Jose Neves. Last year, Rihanna was honored for her commitments to educating and empowering young women. The yearly event is held by the renowned art and design school and The New School’s College of Performing Arts to help raise funds for student scholarships.

H&M Spring Campaign Film Stars Winona Ryder and Elizabeth Olsen [Pret-a-Reporter Inbox]
After controversies over a monkey hoodie and then an artist-led boycott of the brand in response to its unauthorized use of the work of graffiti artist Jason “Revok” Williams, fast-fashion company H&M finally has some good news. To accompany its spring 2018 collection, set to land in stores Thursday, H&M has released a short film starring Winona Ryder and Elizabeth Olsen, along with a “diverse cast of strong women,” according to a statement. Set in Buenos Aires, the film also features singer-songwriter Andrea Valle and four models and depicts “a celebration of female empowerment and friendship.”
Fila Re-Signs Bjorn Borg as Ambassador [Pret-a-Reporter Inbox]
In a major throwback move, sporting goods company Fila (founded in Italy and now operated from South Korea) has re-enlisted tennis great Bjorn Borg as a brand ambassador. Borg famously fronted the brand during his heyday on the court from 1975-1986, during which he grabbed 11 Grand Slam titles and five consecutive wins at Wimbledon and inspired Fila’s White Line collection. Oh, yeah, and he’s got film cred — Borg’s style served as inspiration for Luke Wilson’s character Richie Tenenbaum in 2001’s The Royal Tenenbaums.

Should the Fashion Industry Adopt Inclusion Riders, Too? [Fashionista]
Fashionista brings up the interesting idea of piggybacking onto the inclusion rider idea (mentioned by Frances McDormand in her Oscar acceptance speech earlier this month and gaining steam in recent weeks, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter) by extending similar contractual obligations to the fashion industry, where there’s been plenty of news about the misdeeds of photographers and other industry execs. The notion was sparked by a recent SXSW panel titled “Resistance & Disruption Through Diversity & Data,” where the discussion turned to activism and social responsibility among influencers — some of whom mentioned adopting inclusion riders in their own brand contracts.
Chanel Beauty Products to Land at Ulta Stores [WWD]
Ulta Beauty stores have carried Chanel fragrances for a while, but the two companies are stepping up their partnership with the addition of an edited collection of iconic Chanel Beauty products (including lipstick, foundation and skin-care items) to be sold in select Ulta Beauty stores. The Westport, Connecticut, Ulta Beauty store will begin offering Chanel products in just a few weeks. On the company’s earnings call last week, Ulta CEO Mary Dillon also addressed a recent lawsuit that accuses the company of repackaging and selling used cosmetics, saying: “Let me be clear. We do not sell used, damaged or expired products and have zero tolerance for any actions that would compromise the integrity of the products we sell.”
