Darkest Hour and Wonder lead the feature nominations for the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards, which will be presented Feb. 24 at the NOVO by Microsoft in L.A. Live.
They earned three apiece. Darkest Hour — which stars Gary Oldman as British Prime Minister Winston Churchill — is nominated in the categories for period or character hair, period or character makeup, and special makeup effects. Wonder — which stars Jacob Tremblay as a boy with Treacher Collins syndrome — is nominated in the categories for contemporary makeup, contemporary hair and special makeup effects.
Earning two nominations apiece in the feature categories are The Big Sick, Pitch Perfect 3, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Blade Runner 2049 and I,Tonya.
Darkest Hour, Wonder, Guardians and I, Tonya are all on the shortlist for the Oscar hair and makeup category. Rounding out that shortlist are Bright and Ghost in the Shell, which earned one Guild nomination apiece, and Victoria & Abdul, which didn't make the nominations list.
As previously announced, Gary Oldman will be honored with the Distinguished Artisan Award during the ceremony. Oscar–winning make-up artist Greg Cannom and four time Emmy-winning hair stylist Mary Guerrero will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards.
