No surprise that the red carpet at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards was dominated by splashes of sparkle, although many stars (such as Madonna, Mariah Carey and Drake) skipped the carpet and headed straight into the show.

On the carpet ahead of the Wednesday event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, singers such as the newly reunited Jonas Brothers, Sophia Turner and Ciara's 4-year-old son, Future Zahir Wilburn, made statements with their patterned ensembles. Gesturing with peace signs, Wilburn stole the style show, sporting mini aviator sunglasses, designer kicks and a Versace suit in an over-the-top print.

Jennifer Hudson wowed in a spangled power pant suit,  while Madonna's collaborator Maluma had one of  the best looks of the night — a holographic moto jacket and trousers by DSquared2 that hit the rock 'n' roll sweet spot.

The Billboard Music Awards is produced by Dick Clark Productions — a division of Valence Media, the parent company of the Billboard-Hollywood Reporter Media Group.

  • Maluma

The Colombian pop star, who performed the new song “Medellin” with Madonna for the first time live at Wednesday's show, heated up the red carpet in a custom holographic snakeprint moto jacket and matching trousers by Dsquared2, paired with a black button-front shirt and sunglasses by GLVSS eyewear. Styled by his personal stylist Julian Rios, Maluma wore one of the best looks of the night.

  • Sophie Turner

The Game of Thrones actress, a face of Louis Vuitton, wore a space age-looking, bold-shouldered patterned silver jumpsuit from the spring 2019 collection of the luxe French fashion house. She was styled by Kate Young.

  • Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer Hudson rocked a crystal-embellished netted wool blazer dress from New York label Area with padded shoulders and matching trousers, polished off with $83,200 diamond multi-hoop earrings by Stefere.

  • Cardi B

Topping the charts with 18 nominations in 21 categories, the pop star stepped out in a navel-baring bejeweled outfit with a belly dancer vibe by L.A.-based designer Jeremy Scott for the Italian fashion house Moschino.  The sunny yellow top and matching ruched skirts were embellished with bold multi-colored crystals.

  • Future Zahir Wilburn

Ciara’s 4-year-old son with rapper dad Future, Future Zahir Wilburn, stole the show in a Versace track suit, with cool mini aviator sunglasses and designer sneaks.

  • Quavo and Saweetie

Partners Quavo and Saweetie stood out with bold patterns on the Billboard Music Awards red carpet. Quavo went with Prada, pairing a graphic red rose shirt with a Prada belt and grey trousers, but the emphasis was on his jewelry. He donned silver chains, bedazzled spectacles and nameplate rings spelling out “Huncho” (his 2018 album is called Quavo Huncho; Jaden Smith sported album nameplate jewelry last month at Coachella as well).

Saweetie walked the carpet with him in a floor-length, Asian-inspired gown featuring a Mandarin collar, embellished bird and branch motifs and side slits.

  • Zedd

DJ Zedd, who works with Katy Perry and Maren Morris, wore one of the hottest prints of the moment — an over-the-top python-patterned suit with black glittering sequined lapels.

  • The Jonas Brothers

Nick, Joe and Kevin (styled by Avo Yermagyan) tripled out in head-to-toe Missoni in a mish-mash of plaids and stripes that looked casual-cool. Standing out from his bros, Kevin seemed to have missed the memo and forgotten his shirt.

  • Taylor Swift

The "ME!" singer wore a ruffled lavender Raisa & Vanessa minidress with lace insets by Istanbul-based designers Raisa & Vanessa. She and stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer paired the dress, which called to mind a figure skater silhouette, with Casadei silver heeled sandals, a $9000 starry diamond Stefere Jewelry ear cuff and other jewels.
