Hollywood’s biggest stars opted for classic elegance (think sweeping trains and black, white and blush) along with plenty of glitzy metallic gowns (Thandie! Nicole! Saoirse!) when they stepped out at the 76th annual Golden Globes on Sunday at the Beverly Hilton.

But the most notable trend of the night was an overwhelming return to jaw-dropping, statement-making diamonds. The kind of jewels that rival those highly coveted golden statuettes. Lady Gaga shut down the carpet in periwinkle Valentino Haute Couture with roughly $5 million worth of Tiffany & Co. sparklers, while Julia Roberts rocked 42.26 carats of Chopard diamonds and Charlize Theron piled on the Bulgari gems. If tonight’s any indication of what the 2019 awards season will bring, it’s all about the bling.
