MTV on Tuesday announced the nominations for the 2019 Video Music Awards.
Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift lead with 10 mentions each, in categories including video of the year, song of the year and best pop.
Billie Eilish earned nine noms, while Lil Nas X followed close behind with eight. Both artists are nominated in the video of the year, best new artist and best direction categories.
Halsey received six nods, Shawn Mendes snagged five and Camila Cabello, Cardi B, J Balvin, The Jonas Brothers and BTS nabbed four each.
Drake, Anderson .Paak, FKA twigs, H.E.R., LSD, Rosalia and Solange each earned three noms.
The MTV VMAs also introduced two new categories this year, best K-pop and video for good.
"It’s been an incredible year in music and this group of nominees perfectly reflect the rich pop music landscape," Bruce Gillmer, Viacom's head of music and music talent and co-brand head of MTV International, said in a statement. "We can’t wait to see the outcome, once the fans weigh in. It’s going to be an awesome, unforgettable evening!"
Gillmer and Jesse Ignjatovic, co-founder of Den of Thieves, are executive producers for the 2019 VMAs. Other key members of the creative team include Barb Bialkowski, Jackie Barba, Joe Buoye, Alicia Portugal, Amani Duncan and Wendy Plaut.
