The Hollywood Music in Media Awards have revealed its 2018 nominees, which include A Star Is Born, Black Panther and BlacKkKlansman.
The HMMA recognizes music in visual media, encompassing film, TV, video games, commercials and trailers. Past winners include The Shape of Water and Coco, along with the Netflix television series A Series of Unfortunate Events.
This year, the category for best original score in a feature film comprises Oscar hopefuls such as First Man and the Hans Zimmer-scored Widows. Black Panther is up for best original score in a sci-fi, fantasy or horror film, while the song "Shallow," performed by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in A Star Is Born, is a contender for best original song in a feature film.
Nominees in the television categories include Westworld, Black Mirror and Castle Rock. The HMMA also added a new category for best music documentary, highlighting documentaries centered on iconic musical figures, such as Quincy and Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami.
The awards ceremony, complete with presentations, performances and a special achievement award, will take place Nov. 14 at the Avalon Hollywood.
