Bruno Mars, Drake and Ed Sheeran are among the top contenders.

Nominees for the 2017 American Music Awards were announced Thursday morning on ABC's Good Morning America. Singer Ciara revealed six of the categories on air, with the remainder released via Facebook Live on the American Music Awards and Billboard pages.

Bruno Mars leads the nominations with eight, followed by Ed Sheeran, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, The Chainsmokers and The Weeknd, who each have five nominations. 

This year celebrates 45 years of the AMAs, which is the world's largest fan-voted awards show. The 2017 show will broadcast live on ABC on Nov. 19 from Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater and is produced by dick clark productions.
