Taylor Swift set a new American Music Awards record on Tuesday night.
At the 2018 American Music Awards ceremony, which took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Swift won tour of the year, artist of the year, best pop/rock female artist and best pop/rock album for Reputation. With those wins, Swift broke the record for most wins by a female artist.
During her speech for artist of the year, she encouraged viewers to vote in the upcoming midterm elections, following on the heels of her finally breaking her silence on political issues by endorsing two candidates running for office in Tennessee.
Swift opened the 2018 AMAs with a performance of "I Did Something Bad" off of her 2017 album Reputation. The performance marked Swift's first awards show performance in three years.
Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Post Malone, Migos, Shawn Mendes and Kane Brown also were among the night's winners.
Carrie Underwood, Post Malone, Ty Dolla Sign, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Benny Blanco, Halsey, Khalid, Cardi B, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Ciara, Missy Elliott, Dua Lipa, Panic! at the Disco, Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Zedd, Ella Mai and Twenty One Pilots also performed during the show.
Tracee Ellis Ross served as the host of the 2018 AMAs. The fan-voted awards show aired live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
