The birth of Colleen Ballinger’s first child helps her to lead The Hollywood Reporter’s Top Comedians chart for the first time since August, rising 2-1 on the Dec. 26-dated tally.

The Top Comedians chart is a ranking of the most popular comedians on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus, with global data provided by social media analytics company MVPindex. The chart's methodology blends social engagement on the platforms along with weekly additions of followers/subscribers. The latest tracking week ended Dec. 18.

Ballinger takes over the top spot from Kevin Hart, who had led Top Comedians for the previous eight weeks.

Michael Blackson and Russell Brand re-enter the 10-position list, with Brand appearing for the first time since June 2017.

After remaining absent from Top Comedians since June 2017 (around the time of the chart’s inception), Brand returns at No. 10 with boosts in all chart metrics, led  by 156,000 Twitter likes. Brand’s social engagement was due mainly to his Dec. 13 proclamation that he is 16 years sober.
