The Golden Globe nominee has been showing off her style with glamorous gowns and some of the season's most extravagant looks.
Wu, who starred as Rachel Chu in the box office hit, wore a spectacular N21 dress to the Oct. 9 American Music Awards. The long-sleeved minidress featured pockets and an abstract sequin design that evokes nightlife and cityscapes. Plus: Stuart Weitzman shoes, a Ming Ray bag and Brumani jewels. "I think she loved doing something short and wearing cocktail," says her stylist, Micaela Erlanger. "She loved the playfulness of the look."
The actress kept the sparkles going with a pink-hued, crystal-encrusted Miu Miu gown at the Nov. 18 Governors Awards. The low-cut halter top altered her silhouette for a fresh style. "We actually tried that dress on a while ago but were holding it for the right occasion," Erlanger says. "The crystals were all geometric, so it was just a showstopping look."
Wu was fairy-like at Vulture Fest on Nov. 17 with a pastel tie-dye dress from A.L.C.'s Spring 2019 collection. "I loved that look," Erlanger says, because it showed Wu's personality. "She's never going to choose the expected choice, and I really like that about her. I think she's fearless and isn't afraid to explore." Wu completed the '70s-esque ensemble with orange hoop earrings and a geometric metallic bag.
She kicked off the film's Aug. 7 Hollywood premiere in a silvery Ralph & Russo gown paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and a Judith Leiber clutch. "She wore these ridiculous diamond earrings, and I wanted the moment to be as powerful as the statement the film was making," Erlanger says. "The film is very luxury-centric, so we decided to harness that."
The Fresh Off the Boat actress and presenter arrived to the Sept. 17 Emmy Awards in a Jason Wu cutout gown with Harry Winston earrings and rings. Erlanger wanted to mix it up: "In the past she tended to go for prettier, more romantic silhouettes, and she decided to go for something more sleek with attitude and edge." Wu, who wrote and directed the 2013 short film Your Mother Is Not a Fish, added this caption to the charcoal sequin look on her Instagram: "Your mother is a fish."
"Constance loves an accessory," Erlanger says of the star's vintage Beladora choker for the Nov. 4 Hollywood Film Awards. Wu kept her hair behind her shoulders to make room for the gems and to show off the neckline of the Spring 2018 Rodarte red gown. "Ever since I saw it walk down the runway, I knew I needed to find a home for it," Erlanger says of the glam moment. "This is the kind of gown that a movie star wears." When it comes to Wu's upcoming red carpet moments, Erlanger only teases: "I am in the business of making movie stars," she says. "You're going to see a lot of glamour."
The Asian cinema legend donned a sleeveless periwinkle Elie Saab gown with knotted shoulders, a deep V neckline and a full georgette skirt for the Governors Awards.
The blossoming style star donned Oscar de la Renta gold sequins for the film's premiere. She added Chopard earrings and her ever-favorite Jimmy Choos.
Awkwafina embraced her trademark quirky style with a Vivienne Westwood Anglomania Fall 2018 pink tartan suit at an August media event.
