Veteran actors Mark Hamill and Jim Carrey break into the top 10 of The Hollywood Reporter’s Top Actors chart for the first time, while Dwayne Johnson leads the March 28-dated tally.
The Top Actors chart is a ranking of the most popular actors on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus, with global data provided by social media analytics company MVPindex. The chart's methodology blends social engagement on the platforms along with weekly additions of followers/subscribers. The latest tracking week ended March 20.
Johnson, who leads for a third straight week (and 30th total, the first actor to rule for at least 30 weeks), tops Will Smith, Finn Wolfhard, Robert Downey Jr. and Hamill in the top five, with Downey and Hamill reaching new chart peaks; the former had previously peaked at No. 7 in June 2017, while Hamill topped off at No. 13 in December 2017.
Meanwhile, Carrey’s first week in the top 10 is joined by re-entries into the chart’s upper reaches by Zac Efron and Millie Bobby Brown at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively.
See the top 10 below, and for more charts on The Hollywood Reporter, check out the Top Comedians and Top TV Personalities charts.

Jim Carrey: actor, comedian and… budding artist. Carrey posted multiple drawings and paintings of his own design to his Twitter account, including images of the recently deceased Stephen Hawking and President Donald Trump characterized as “the Wicked Witch of the West Wing.” Carrey’s art helped him to his first Top Actors appearance at all, let alone his maiden top 10, with a 1,332 percent hump in Twitter likes (482,000) and 108,00 total retweets (up 1,998 percent).

Though he’s perhaps better known for his Twitter presence on social media, Hamill’s Instagram was the big winner in the latest tracking week, racking up 2.1 million favorites. One post urged Star Wars fans to watch The Last Jedi in a so-called “silent film” version for its upcoming home release in which the only sounds come from John Williams’ score, calling it “awesome and a revelation.”

4. Robert Downey Jr.

After previously peaking at No. 7 on the chart last summer, Downey hits the top 10 for the first time since July 2017 with boosts of 61 percent in Facebook post likes (1.1 million overall) and 218 percent in Instagram favorites (5.9 million). The actor’s top Instagram post (March 17, 2.1 million favorites) showed Downey, dressed in a green, four leaf clover-covered one-piece suit, hugging a tree, captioning it, “Embracing green this St. Paddy’s Day.” His Facebook gains, meanwhile, came via the premiere of the latest trailer for Avengers: Infinity War.
