Just in time for another sunny, 70-plus-degree L.A. winter, the Los Angeles City Council announced its plan to make the city fur-free. The ban on manufacturing and sales of fur and fur-related products is not scheduled to go into effect until 2020, but with the momentum from fashion brands going fur-free in recent months (Coach announced just this week that it is doing so, following Gucci, Versace, Armani and many others) and the myriad chic faux-fur options already available, it's easy to get ahead of the trend.

There are styles at every price point, many of them conjuring Hollywood dreams. Contemporary brand Tibi offers a classic belted coat, clearly a nod to the now-iconic style sported by a sulky Margot Tenenbaum in Wes Anderson's classic 2001 film The Royal Tenenbaums. From Givenchy, and ringing in at a price point approximating real fur, there is a super-stylish patchwork '70s-era silhouette that's evocative of Jane Fonda's character in Klute.

Dries Van Noten created a fluffy, furry, jewel-toned topper that lives at the intersection of Matthew Weiner's new show, The Romanoffs, and Jim Hensen's Muppets (in the best way possible, obviously). And millennial pink is rearing its head again, through the luxe lens of Max Mara, which has cemented itself as one of the go-to collections for fabulous coats of all textures and stripes.
