  • Jeweler Spinelli Kilcollin's First Scent Offering

Modernist L.A. jewelry house Spinelli Kilcollin (which counts Meryl Streep and Sarah Jessica Parker among its pack of celeb followers) has just introduced its first scent in the form of a soy-and-beeswax based candle complete with Spinelli Kilcollin matches. In a seeming wink at the materialism surrounding the holidays, the candle is dubbed Avarice. Created with New York fragrance house Joya, the fig aroma has hints of orange peel and powdery sandalwood. Most exciting, two of the candles ($58 each at spinellikilcollin.com) in a limited run of 500 randomly contain the jeweler’s Galaxy rings.

  • A Sunset Tower Hotel Candle

L.A.-based illustrator/creative director extraordinaire Donald Robertson's custom artwork decorates the new Sunset Tower Hotel candle, which reinvents the legendary hotel’s signature scent with tiare flowers, jasmine petals, southwest California peony and orange blossom (also developed with Joya fragrance house) and a natural wood wick, $50 at the Sunset Tower Hotel gift shop and joyastudio.com. The first delivery landed this week!

  • Maxfield x Lola James Harper

Another Hollywood institution, Maxfield, has launched a trademark fragranced candle in a limited run. Lola James Harper #22 The Maxfield Candle is a mix of incense, cedar, sandalwood, mahogany, cinnamon and cardamom intended "to evoke to spirit of Maxfield," according to a release. Parisian-based Lola James Harper founder Rami Mekdachi has a history of designing fragrances that tell the story of famous places, such as fashion lifestyle boutique Colette and Hotel Costes. Available for $50 exclusively at Maxfield stores in West Hollywood and Malibu.

  • Lite + Cycle Hand-Painted Boxes

Actress Nikki Reed has been known to burn eco candles by L.A. candlemaker-artist Kristi Head. In an effort to discourage the waste of gift wrap, Head has hand-painted 50 candle boxes with red or purple ink so they are ready to give as is; each of the limited run designs is one of a kind. Available for $62 in one of five essential-oil scented soy wax candles (bergamot, lavender, sage, vetiver or cedar-fir-fennel-coffee Urban Forest that was inspired by Griffith Park) at liteandcycleshop.com.

  • Simone LeBlanc Festive Linen Wrapping

Also focused on the perfect finishing touches is tasteful Hollywood gift curator Simone LeBlanc, who has wrapped her eponymous hand-poured soy wax Pastoral candle (a mix of cedar, vanilla smoke and birch) in crisp linen, tied with a festive bundle of seasonal foliage, $48 or $115 for three.

  • Jenni Kayne's Debut Candle Line

L.A. fashion designer Jenni Kayne (whose fans include Jessica Alba, Courteney Cox and Jessica Capshaw) recently debuted a collection of five candles inspired by Cali, including musk, cedar, basil in honor of Ojai, currant as a nod to Napa, and Ash (a blend of clove, birchwood, balsam and cedar) to conjure up the smell of bonfires at Lake Tahoe where Kayne spends the holidays with her family. Candles are $55 each at Jenni Kayne stores and jennikayne.com; there is also an $85 limited-edition version of the Ash candle in a handcrafted vessel by L.A. ceramicist Victoria Morris. Next spring, look for new scents inspired by Cali desert locales.

  • Sandoval Introduces a Peace Candle

Grounded in healing, Los Angeles aromatics studio Sandoval has made a name for its natural essential oil concentrates, interior sprays and incense hand-blended with woods and resins (loved by Emma Roberts); now the company has launched its first candle, intended as an aid for meditation. The coconut oil-based Peace candle melds the scents of purifying palo santo, sweet frankincense and grounding patchouli, $60 at studiosandoval.com. Packaging notes that "each jar contains a crystal that has been charged under the full moon with serene intentions."

  • Lucky Bastard Co. Cabin Candle

Brian Grazer is a fan of this hipster gentlemen's lip balm, crafted in small batches on the west side, and now Venice-based Lucky Bastard Co. is combining excess scraps of its essential-oil-infused natural wax balm with soy wax to produce a new line of candles with thick wood wicks. Reimagining the smell of camping in a Cali forest, the Cabin Candle ($35 at luckybastard.co) has notes of spruce, cedar, frankincense and myrrh. Founder Chad Lieske emphasizes that the glass container, embellished with his own illustration of a fingers-crossed sign for good luck, can double as a low-ball whiskey glass after the candle has burned. Yeah, that's a man cave thing.

  • The Now x Robert Siegel Studio Candle

In time to meet the gifting needs of clients such as Kendall Jenner, Vanessa Hudgens and Lea Michele, local massage boutique The Now has teamed up with L.A.-based Robert Siegel Studio. The product is a version of their heady jasmine-scented coconut wax candle  (that can double as a massage emollient) in a handcrafted cobalt blue  porcelain vessel with gold banded trim. Available in limited quantities for $68 each at The Now locations in West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Silver Lake and Studio City.

  • Tobi Tobin Chalet Candle

Taylor Swift, Reese Witherspoon and Britney Spears are among the Hollywood crowd that interior decorator Tobi Tobin caters to with her candles, chocolates and fragrances. For the holidays is a Tobi Tobin cedar-eucalyptus-clove Chalet candle with hints of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, sandalwood and frankincense, $78 at the Tobi Tobin store in L.A., within select Bloomingdale's or at tobitobin.com.
