Jake Tapper retakes the No. 1 spot on The Hollywood Reporter’s Top TV Personalities chart, moving 2-1 on the Aug. 29-dated ranking.
The Top TV Personalities chart is a ranking of the most popular TV personalities on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus, with global data provided by social media analytics company MVPindex. The chart's methodology blends social engagement on the platforms along with weekly additions of followers/subscribers. TV personalities are defined here as performers primarily known for their appearances on their own TV series, including hosts of entertainment/news shows. The latest tracking week ended Aug. 21.
Tapper takes over at No. 1 from Mike Huckabee, who falls to No. 2 after leading for one week.
James Corden, Lawrence O’Donnell and Bill Maher round out the top five.

Fallon returns to Top TV Personalities for the first time since Aug. 1 thanks to a sizable bump in Twitter metrics, jumping 354 percent in retweets and 229 percent in favorites. What caused the gain? It was chiefly Ariana Grande’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Aug. 16, which featured a tribute by Grande and The Roots to Aretha Franklin, who died earlier that day. “I know it’s a big night for Ariana – but this is what great people do when they know we need them to be there for us,” he tweeted.

6. Jeremy Clarkson

"Don’t worry if your A level grades aren’t any good,” Clarkson wrote in an Aug. 16 tweet about school marks. “I got a C and 2 Us. And I’m sitting here deciding which of my Range Rovers to use today.” The tweet, one that he makes in a similar context each year since 2015, has received over 200,000 likes, which helped Clarkson jump back onto the chart with a 90 percent boost in Twitter likes.
