Juno Awards: Drake, The Weeknd and Shawn Mendes Lead With Five Noms Each
Alessia Cara and the late Leonard Cohen also score multiple nominations for Canada's music awards.

Drake, The Weeknd and Shawn Mendes on Tuesday snagged a field-leading five nominations each for the Junos, the Canada's music awards.
R&B hitmaker The Weeknd was the big winner at the 2016 Juno Awards, taking home five trophies. This year, Alessia Cara and the late Leonard Cohen will be up for four nominations, while A Tribe Called Red earned three mentions.
Nominations for the Junos were revealed during a press conference in Toronto.
Drake, Mendes and The Weeknd will compete in the Juno Fan Choice, single of the year and album of the year categories. And the pop album of the year competition will see Cara's Know-It-All and Mendes' Illuminate go up against Tegan and Sara's Love You to Death, Marianas Trench's Astoria and Coleman Hell's Summerland.
Elsewhere, the Fan Choice award, voted on by ordinary Canadians, also saw nominations for Cara, Hedley, Justin Bieber and Ruth B. And the best international album category will pit Coldplay's A Head Full of Dreams and One Direction's Made in the A.M. against Rihanna's Anti and Sia's This Is Acting.
The Junos earlier announced singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan will be the 2017 inductee into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
The Junos, organized by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, will take place April 2 in Ottawa and air on the CTV network. Michael Buble is scheduled to host the awards show, but his presence is unclear after he and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, in November revealed that their three-year-old son Noah had been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment.
