Kevin Hart Retains Lead on Top Comedians Social Media Ranking

Hart, D.L. Hughley and Ricky Gervais grab the top three of the chart, which ranks the most popular comedians based on data from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus.

Kevin Hart crowns The Hollywood Reporter's Top Comedians chart (dated Oct. 11) for a 19th week, amid a new series premiere on his Laugh Out Loud network and a just-released mobile game.

The Top Comedians chart is a ranking of the most popular comedians on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus, with global data provided by social media analytics company MVPindex. The chart's methodology blends social engagement on the platforms along with weekly additions of followers/subscribers. The latest tracking week ended Oct. 3.

Beyond Hart, Ricky Gervais makes a strong gain(9-3) on the chart, while Amy Schumer and Martin Lawrence return to the 10-position chart(replacing Jeff Dunham and George Lopez).

    Gervais continued his Humanity world tour to Copenhagen, where he donated to cancer and animal welfare benefits in Denmark following his sold-out show (splitting £10,000 between the two, per his Twitter). Gervais was up in all social media metrics in the tracking week, including a 356 percent bump in Twitter likes to 115,000 overall, according to MVPindex.

He racked up 267,000 Facebook post likes and jumped 139 percent in Facebook shares as part of the reveals.
