Kevin Hart retains the No. 1 spot on The Hollywood Reporter’s Top Comedians chart for a 26th consecutive week, while Ricky Gervais follows at No. 2 on the ranking dated Nov. 29.

The Top Comedians chart is a ranking of the most popular comedians on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus, with global data provided by social media analytics company MVPindex. The chart’s methodology blends social engagement on the platforms along with weekly additions of followers/subscribers. The latest tracking week ended Nov. 21.

Gervais, who leaps to No. 2 from the No. 10 position, achieves his best rank on the chart yet, besting his No. 3 peak first achieved on the June 7-dated ranking.

The chart contains one debut or re-entry: Amy Schumer, who returns to the ranking at No. 10. She replaces Tiffany Haddish, who falls off the chart after making her maiden appearance at No. 4 last week (chart dated Nov. 22) following her Saturday Night Live hosting gig.

On Real Time with Bill Maher (a clip of which was posted to his Facebook page on Nov. 18), Maher came out in somewhat of a defense of Senator Al Franken’s sexual misconduct allegations, writing that though Franken “deserves” condemnation, he shouldn’t be “lumped in with Roy Moore. Or Kevin Spacey. Or Harvey Weinstein. Or Donald Trump.” The post helped Maher on the way to a 50 percent boost in Facebook post likes, garnering 300,000 in all.

Though known more for his comedy, Gervais’ Nov. 16 Facebook post – the most-engaged-with post by a comedian on the social media service in the tracking week with 162,000 likes and 97,000 shares – was decidedly grimmer. He called President Donald Trump’s lift of President Barack Obama’s ban on imported elephant trophies “a devastating blow to the survival of these beautiful animals,” referring to it as “savage and pointless.”
