  • Nordstrom's Local Concept Shop and Westfield Century City Store Opens Next Week

Could a store with no merch be the next thing? The first Nordstrom Local concept store opens on Tuesday, Oct. 3 on Melrose Place.  Devoid of inventory, the 3,000-square-foot space is rather dedicated to services: complimentary appointments with personal stylists from nine area stores, custom wardrobing, manicures, same-day pick-up of online purchases, local home delivery, alterations and more. "We feel that speed and conveniences are the greatest luxuries for modern customers," said senior vice president of customer service Shea Jensen.

Also on Tuesday, Nordstrom opens a Westfield Century City store (relocating after more than 30 years at Westside Pavilion); the first 500 customers will receive $20 gift cards. The 154,000-square-foot location — decorated with 98 pieces of art — includes Bar Verde restaurant and an exclusive Space boutique with buzzy labels curated by vp of creative projects, Olivia Kim. There will also be complimentary help from stylists, online merch reserved to try on in store, and same-day local delivery. Khloé Kardashian and Emma Grede (co-founders of size-inclusive, denim-focused Good American brand) will talk body positivity on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. For a schedule of all in-store events (designer appearances, product personalization and a showcase of emerging designers on Oct. 6-8), see nordstrom.com/cc.
