Twenty actors and actresses are in contention to win an Oscar at the 88th annual Academy Awards on Feb. 28, but only six have previously won for a former nomination.

  • Cate Blanchett

    Cate Blanchett, nominated for best actress for her performance in Carol, won her first Oscar in 2005: a best supporting actress Academy Award for The Aviator.

  • Jennifer Lawrence

  • Matt Damon

  • Kate Winslet
