After four weeks atop The Hollywood Reporter’s Top Comedians chart, Colleen Ballinger gives up the No. 1 spot to Ricky Gervais, who jumps from eighth to first on the Aug. 8-dated tally.

The Top Comedians chart is a ranking of the most popular comedians on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus, with global data provided by social media analytics company MVPindex. The chart's methodology blends social engagement on the platforms along with weekly additions of followers/subscribers. The latest tracking week ended July 31.

Gervais leads the ranking for the first time, having previously peaked at No. 2 for multiple weeks (beginning in December 2017).

Despite upheaval at the top of the chart and positional changes throughout, much of the overall makeup of the Top Comedians ranking remains intact, with Dennis Miller the only re-entry at No. 10, replacing Michael Ian Black.
