The Top Actors chart is a ranking of the most popular actors on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus, with global data provided by social media analytics company MVPindex. The chart's methodology blends social engagement on the platforms along with weekly additions of followers/subscribers. The latest tracking week ended Aug. 14.
The chart’s top three – Takei, Smith and Lin-Manuel Miranda – all retain positions in the top five from the previous week, while Ryan Reynolds is one of the chart’s major gainers, re-entering at No. 4 after wishing Chris Hemsworth a happy birthday in a viral tweet (more on that below).
Meanwhile, Hemsworth, Alyssa Milano and Idris Elba re-enter the chart at Nos. 6-8, respectively, and Cole Sprouse breaks back into the top 10, rising from 18 to 9.
