The 24th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were handed out Sunday night at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri won the award for best performance by a cast in a motion picture. On the TV side, This Is Us was a surprise winner for best drama series ensemble, beating Emmy winner The Handmaid's Tale, while last year's Emmy winner Veep won the award for best comedy series ensemble.
Kristen Bell served as the show's first-ever host, while the ceremony's 13 acting awards — along with the two stunt categories, which were handed out before the televised ceremony — were presented by women as a response to the #MeToo movement and Time's Up initiative. While the ceremony aimed to celebrate women, the SAG Awards abided by their tradition of having castmembers, both male and female, represent the films for which their work was recognized.
