  • Allen Schwartz's Santa Monica Flagship

On Thursday night the made-in-L.A. womenswear brand Allen Schwartz (a new iteration of the ABS by Allen Schwartz label that launched in 1982) toasts its revamped look and the opening of a new flagship store in Santa Monica. Unlike ABS, known for its affordable riffs on red carpet dress trends, Allen Schwartz ($215-$770) has a more relaxed look: feminine blouses and camis, duster jackets, a wide array of trousers (but no jeans!), skirts from pencil to pleated, and flirty party dresses, including some standout slip styles with lace insets. The line launched e-commerce in August and declares on its site that it is "department-store free," carried only at select specialty boutiques. Pieces are made in small, limited batches to fuel demand. Vanessa Hudgens and Jamie Chung are already fans. The Allen Schwartz store also features a rotating mix of vintage tops and dresses from Schwartz's previous brands and a gift shop-in-shop offering California-made pieces such as P.F. Candle Co. & Le Feu De L’eau candles, No Tox Life soaps, and Found My Animal dog leashes and collars. In celebration of the store opening, the company is offering 25 percent off all items in store (and online with code FLAMCIS25) from Friday through Sunday.
