Fox gets the next go with the Primetime Emmy Awards, and the network is bringing the live telecast back to Sunday night as expected after airing on a Monday night this year on NBC.

The 2019 telecast is set for Sunday, Sept. 22, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. It will be the first Emmys of eight in a new deal between the Big Four networks (ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC) and the TV Academy — as well as the first to air on New Fox once Disney’s acquisition of the company’s non-network entertainment properties are complete.

Both Fox and the Academy are likely hoping that the Sunday return will do something to turn around the Emmys’ recent ratings losses. After a few lackluster years, this year's telecast marked the least-watched in the show’s history. The downward trend was one of the things holding up a final deal for the show to continue on its long-standing Big Four rotation.

Monday’s Emmy-related news from Fox was otherwise slim. Producers and host/hosts for the 2019 show will be announced at a later date. Networks traditionally go for comedic in-house talent when choosing an emcee, and Fox's current comedy lineup is on the thin side. (Tim Allen is always an option!)

One constant remains for the Emmys, however, and that’s the location. The show will again be held at the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles.
