ABC is eyeing another family soap.

The Disney-owned network is developing hourlong crime drama Down in the Valley from David Posamentier and Geoff Moore. The pair wrote and directed the 2014 film Better Living Through Chemistry.

From TriStar Television, Down in the Valley is described as a darkly comedic drama told from the perspective of a talented female police officer who returns home to Napa Valley to support her struggling family after her troubled sister disappears and leaves her infant daughter in need of care. When she joins the Napa County Sheriff's Department to make ends meet, she quickly realizes that this posh, bucolic, "small town" paradise now has more than its fair share of big-city problems.

Earlier this week, ABC kicked off pilot season by ordering Kenya Barris comedy Libby & Malcolm, starring Courtney B. Vance and Felicity Huffman as two polar-opposite political pundits who fall in love despite their differing views. The network previously handed out two straight-to-series drama orders for next season with Kyra Sedgwick's Ten Days in the Valley and Marvel's Imax entry The Inhumans.
