Adult Swim and Rob Corddry Reteam for Live-Action Historical Comedy
Reunited and it feels so good.
Adult Swim is reteaming with Childrens Hospital creator and star Rob Corddry for a live-action comedy pilot, the cabler announced Wednesday ahead of Turner's upfront presentation.
The Hindenburg Explodes! takes place in May 1937 and centers on the infamous Hindenburg zeppelin's final voyage from Nazi Germany to New Jersey, where it exploded over a landing field. The 15-minute live-action project follows that flight and its unusual crew and passengers.
Corddry, Josh Perilo (Wedlock) and Jonathan Stern (Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp) co-created the comedy, with Corddry and Stern also on board as executive producers with Becca Kinskey (Adult Swim Late Night Infomercials). Abominable Pictures will produce.
Corddry's new collaboration comes just one month after Childrens Hospital ended its seven-season run. Originally a web series when it debuted in 2008, Adult Swim then picked up the rights to the show a year later and began airing the series in 2010. Childrens Hospital won two Emmy awards in 2012 and 2013.
In addition, Corddry is a series regular on the HBO comedy Ballers, which returns this summer.
Adult Swim's live-action comedy slate currently includes Black Jesus; Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter; Tim and Eric's Bedtime Stories and Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell. The network also recently ordered a live-action pilot from Community creator Dan Harmon, who also is the co-creator behind Adult Swim's Rock and Morty.
