Syfy's 'Alphas' Reveals Guest Star Slate for Season 2

Syfy's Alphas has revealed the list of new and returning guest stars for season two, which officially launches July 23.

Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings trilogy), C. Thomas Howell (Southland), Lauren Holly (NCIS), Steve Byers (Immortals), Kandyse McClure (Battlestar Galactica) and Noah Reid (Rookie Blue) will appear in the new season.

Additionally, familiar faces like John Pyper-Ferguson, Kathleen Munroe, Mahershala Ali and Summer Glau, who will appear in three episodes, will return.

Here is the rundown of of the new characters joining Alphas:

  • Astin will play Roland, an Alpha who has an absorptive brain, which allows him to assume the memories of anyone close to him and replay them like a tape recorder.
  • Howell will portray Eli Aquino, described as an intense Alpha with super speed who is hellbent on revenge.
  • Holly plays Sen. Charlotte Burton, who has mysterious ties to a member of the Alphas team.
  • Byers will play John Bennett, a new member of the tactical team from the U.S. Department of Defense assigned to the team.
  • As Agnes, McClure's character is described as an attractive but distant Alpha who can see into people's minds by touching them.
  • Reid portrays Adam Gordon, a young man grieving the death of his sister Maggie who is convinced she is still alive and needs his help.

Alphas follows a group of ordinary people with superhman abilities. The regular cast is led by David Strathairn.
