"Angry is good. Angry gets shit done."

So speaks Mr. Nancy (Orlando Jones), one of the many powerful deities at the heart of American Gods, the new Starz series based on award-winning author Neil Gaiman's novel of the same name.

A new clip from the series teases the opening scene of the show's second episode, featuring the first appearance of Jones as the fan-favorite trickster god. In the scene, Mr. Nancy stands in the depths of a slave ship headed toward America, warning the imprisoned inhabitants about the future they face.

"Let me paint a picture of what's waiting for you on the shore," he tells them. "You arrive in America, land of opportunity, milk and honey … and guess what? You all get to be slaves. Split up, sold off and worked to death."

He continues: "The only good news is the tobacco your grandkids are going to farm for free is going to give a shitload of these white motherfkers cancers."

Watch the clip in the video below.

Jones is but one of many stars and gods on Starz's American Gods, which centers on a man named Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) who becomes embroiled in a war between old and new gods for the soul of the nation. The cast also includes Ian McShane as the old gods' ringleader Mr. Wednesday, Emily Browning as Shadow's deceased wife Laura Moon, Pablo Schreiber as the punchy leprechaun Mad Sweeney, and Yetide Badaki as Bilquis, a goddess of love and devotion with a … let's call it a unique sexual appetite.
