NBC's forthcoming Seth Meyers-Lorne Michaels comedy is adding to its core ensemble.

Mascots star Tom Bennett, who guest-starred in the pilot of A.P. Bio, has been promoted to series regular, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The single-camera comedy centers on Jack (It's Always Sunny star Glenn Howerton), a philosophy scholar who loses out on his dream job and goes to work as a high school Advanced Placement biology teacher. At his new job, he makes it clear he will not be teaching any biology. Realizing he has a room full of honor roll students at his disposal, he decides instead to use the kids to his own benefit.

Bennett plays Miles Leonard, Jack's rival at Harvard. Miles is also a renowned philosophy teacher. He is constantly getting awards and promotions, but is still humble and kind, which drives Jack even more crazy.

The cast also includes Patton Oswalt, Lyric Lewis, Mary Sohn, Aparna Brielle, Jacob McCarthy and Nick Peine.

Saturday Night Live grad Mike O'Brien will write and executive produce the comedy. In addition to Meyers, Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer and Late Night With Seth Meyers showrunner Michael Shoemaker will also exec produce. The series hails from Universal TV, Broadway Video and Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions.

Bennett's other credits include Love & Friendship, David Brent: Life on the Road and HBO's Family Tree. He is repped by London's United Agents and Industry Entertainment.

A.P. Bio is slated to debut sometime midseason on NBC.
