'Awkward' Cast on New Additions Anthony Michael Hall, Nolan Funk (Video)

Awkward welcomed two major players at the start of season three in Breakfast Club alum Anthony Michael Hall and Glee grad Nolan Funk.

On the MTV comedy, Hall plays Jenna's sadistic creative writing teacher Mr. Hart, while Funk portrays the confident prep school transfer Collin James.

"Mr. Hart doesn't have a heart, but he will bring up some interesting questions for Jenna to think over and push her to places she wouldn't go normally and make her face some really hard decisions," Ashley Rickards tells The Hollywood Reporter on a recent visit to the THR Cover Lounge. "He pushes her to a level of challenge and identity."

When the topic of Funk came up, however, co-star Brett Davern -- who worked with the actor in 2010's Triple Dog -- couldn't contain his excitement and jealousy over the Glee actor's good looks. "I'm trying to out-funk Funk!" Davern jokes when Jillian Rose Reed brings up his dapper red blazer.

On a serious note, Rickards hints that Collin's presence at Palos Hills High School will be "interesting," especially with the way things are with Jenna and Matty at the moment.

"True to Awkward form, attractive guys bring drama," Rickards says. "He is the catalyst to a lot of different things in Jenna's life this season."

Awkward airs at 10 p.m. Tuesdays on MTV.
