'Baby Daddy' Renewed for Season 6 at Freeform
Baby Daddy will continue at Freeform.
The cabler, formerly known as ABC Family, has renewed the comedy for a sixth season, it was announced Monday.
The multicam sitcom, which is in the midst of its fifth season, will reach 100 episodes in the upcoming sixth season.
Baby Daddy stars Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Derek Theler, Tahj Mowry, Melissa Peterman and Chelsea Kane. The series is created and executive produced by Dan Berendsen.
“The lines between family and friends are so wonderfully crossed in Baby Daddy," Freeform executive vp programming and development Karey Burke said. You can always count on the Wheeler clan for a big laugh along with heartfelt moments."
The Freeform name was instituted in January to reflect the channel's shift in focus to adults 18-34 and what it calls "becomers" — those experiencing a series of "firsts" like love, jobs and more.
Baby Daddy is one of two multicam comedies at the network, the other being Young & Hungry. Freeform greenlighted a spinoff for the latter in April. Last year, the network attempted to dive into the single-camera comedy space with Kevin From Work. However, the workplace comedy was canceled after just one season.
Freeform's original slate largely consists of veteran dramas like Pretty Little Liars and The Fosters as well as first-year offerings including Shadowhunters and Guilt. Upcoming projects include a recently announced Bachelor spinoff reality series and Alice, a half-hour weekly variety-style platform showcasing bold, groundbreaking and experimental short-form content.
