In case anybody's forgotten, Bates Motel is a prequel with a very fixed ending.

The A&E drama, which kicks off its third season March 9, is ultimately headed toward matricide — and the latest promotions don't shy away from its cinematic roots.

"Psycho" reads the tagline, next to a rather sinister-looking Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) nestled into his mother's (Vera Farmiga) bosom.

It's the series' most overt reference to the 1960 film since the show premiered in 2013 — and it's unsettlingly on point.
