BBC America Launches Comedy Block

BBC America is launching a two-hour comedy block, "Ministry of Laughs," which starts Saturday, June 18 at 10 p.m.

The block will include "irreverent and inventive comedies" from the U.K., such as The Inbetweeners, Come Fly With Me and Friday Night Dinner. Kicking off the block at 10 p.m. will be talker The Graham Norton Show.

"In the early days of the channel, The Office broke the mold and virtually reinvented television comedy on both sides of the Atlantic," saidPerry Simon, GM of channels at BBC Worldwide America.
" 'Ministry of Laughs' will deliver a new generation of talented actors, writers and creators who are taking British comedy to a whole new place, and the brilliant Graham Norton Show is the perfect launch pad for this effort.”

The Inbetweeners, returning for a third season, with Will, Simon, Jay and Neil returning for their final year of high school. Premieres June 18 at 11 p.m.

Come Fly With Me, a mockumentary set in an airport terminal. Premieres June 18 at 11:30 p.m.

Friday Night Dinner, penned by Robert Popper, centering on the experience of a traditional but not strictly observant Jewish family, the Goodmans. Premieres Aug. 6 at 11:30 p.m.

Katy Brand's Big Ass Show, which centers on Brand as she takes on the entertainment industry. Premieres Jan. 7, 2012 at 11:30 p.m.

Returning shows include That Mitchell & Webb Show, premiering Oct. 1 at 11:30 p.m.; The Thick of It, launching Nov. 12 at 11:30 p.m.; and Peep Show, debuting its new season March 31 at 11:30 p.m.
