Fresh off his engagement, Sheldon Cooper's guardian Jedi is poised to return to CBS' The Big Bang Theory.

Emmy winner Bob Newhart is set to reprise his role as the late Arthur Jeffries/Professor Proton during the Nov. 2 episode. The season 11 return comes two years after Newhart last reprised his role in season nine's "The Opening Night Excitation," during which he appeared as Professor Proton in his ghostly Jedi form to offer Sheldon advice for getting intimate with his girlfriend Amy (Mayim Bialik) for the first time.

Big Bang Theory producers have repeatedly said that the nature with which Professor Proton appears to Sheldon — in a dream-like Jedi form as his own personal Obi Wan — allows the beloved actor to pop in from time to time when the character needs him the most. Given the nature of Monday's season 11 premiere — Amy said yes to Sheldon's marriage proposal — it's not a stretch that Newhart's Professor Proton would return to potentially help Sheldon through the engagement.

Will Wheaton is also set to reprise his role as Sheldon's on-again-off-again nemesis in the episode. Additional details about the Nov. 2 episode are being kept under wraps.

The Big Bang Theory airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS and will move to Thursdays starting Nov. 2 at 8 p.m.
