Watch Emma Stone Get Instagram-Shamed in 'Billy on the Street' Return
Billy on the Street is back.
A new episode of the Emmy-nominated comedy series was made available on Thursday, after more than a year off the air. In the clip, host Billy Eichner introduces his pal Emma Stone to unsuspecting New Yorkers, many of whom are intent on convincing the Oscar-winning actress to join Instagram.
"You don't have an Instagram?" one shocked fan asks. "Why not? How do you keep in touch with the latest things?… Everything and everyone is on there. Will Smith just made an Instagram!"
Adds another woman: "You need to make an Instagram. To show people where you are, obviously."
Still, Stone doesn't seem convinced and has yet to sign up for the photo-sharing social media app.
Another question Eichner asks people on the street is whether or not they'd like to see the La La Land star try her hand at horror movies. And elsewhere in the six-minute episode, one bystander mistakes Stone for Emma Watson.
Billy on the Street last aired on TruTV, the sketch comedy's home of two years, in February 2017. Now the series has returned as an eight-episode, short-form web series produced by Funny or Die and Lyft Entertainment. The season, which will feature shortened episodes compared to its former 30 minutes, will feature the likes of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tiffany Haddish and Kate McKinnon.
After splitting with TruTV, Eichner opted to focus on acting, with roles in American Horror Story (which premiered a new season with Eichner on Wednesday) and upcoming parts as Timon in Disney's remake of The Lion King and Christmas feature Noelle, both due in 2019. He also has his first comedy special in development at Netflix.
The web-only episodes will be distributed on Eichner's social media platforms and on Billy on the Street's YouTube channel. Watch the Stone episode below.
