NBC's Blindspot will return.

The network has renewed the Greg Berlanti/Martin Gero-produced drama for a third season.

After its breakout first season airing Mondays at 10 p.m. behind The Voice — making a star out of lead Jaimie Alexander in the process — the Warner Bros. Television drama's move to Wednesdays at 8 p.m. was a tough transition, to say the least. Season two, despite added star power from The Good Wife alum and Emmy winner Archie Panjabi, has been averaging a 1.8 rating and 7.4 million viewers, still respectable but a sharp drop from the 3.3 rating and 11.7 million viewers the first season averaged.

The renewal marks a key win for independent producers Warner Bros. Television and comes as all of NBC's new series pickups are produced by corporate sibling Universal Television.
