Bonnie Hunt is joining the cast of Showtime's Ben Stiller drama Escape at Dannemora.

The actress is the latest to board the limited series starring Benicio del Toro, Patricia Arquette and Paul Dano. Executive produced and directed by Stiller, the eight-episode mini will tell the real-life story of Richard Matt (del Toro) and David Sweat (Dano), two inmates who were discovered missing at the maximum-security Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York, in 2015 after being aided in their escape by a female prison employee. The escape spawned a massive manhunt for the two convicted murderers.

Hunt will play Catherine Leahy Scott, the New York State Inspector General who headed up the formal investigation of the escape of the inmates from the prison. The actress was nominated for an Emmy and two Golden Globes for her lead role on ABC's Life With Bonnie. Her credits also include Cheaper by the Dozen, Jerry Maguire, Bonnie, Beethoven and Rain Man, as well as voice work in the Cars, Monsters Inc. and Toy Story franchises.

Escape at Dannemora, which began production last month on location in upstate New York, is Showtime's next high-profile limited series. It will be written by Brett Johnson (Mad Men) and Michael Tolkin (The Player), who met while working as writers on the Showtime drama Ray Donovan. Johnson and Tolkin will also executive produce alongside Bryan Zuriff (Steve Jobs), Michael De Luca (Fifty Shades of Grey) via Michael De Luca Productions and Nicky Weinstock for Stiller's Red Hour Productions.
