CBS is pairing the creative teams from two of its drama procedurals for a new project.

The network on Monday handed out a pilot order to an untitled drama from Bull creator Paul Attanasio and Blue Bloods executive producer Leonard Goldberg.

The project centers on the multi-generational members of a Mexican-American family with deep roots in San Diego who intertwine personally and professionally due to their powerful careers in law enforcement.

Attanasio will pen the script and executive produce alongside Bull's Rodrigo Garcia, who will direct the drama from CBS Television Studios. Blue Bloods' Goldberg and David Barrett also will exec produce.

This marks CBS' seventh drama pilot order of the season, with all of them being produced in-house at CBS TV Studios. It joins a roster of police, medical, military and legal procedurals including The Get, Killer Instinct, Mission Control, Perfect Citizen and more.

Procedurals continue to be CBS' bread and butter. Blue Bloods has been a sturdy performer for the network, with rookie Bull earning a quick full-season pickup last year. Procedurals continue to be a development and pilot season staple as broadcast networks look for broad-skewing fare in a bid to appeal to middle America.
