With the end in sight for A&E's Bates Motel, Carlton Cuse is prepping for his next act.

The busy exec producer is developing global conspiracy drama Obicera One for streaming service Hulu, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Produced by A+E Studios, where Cuse is under an overall deal, the drama follows a group of desperate people whose lives become entangled and endangered when they each gain knowledge of a secret project known as Obicera One.

Cuse, who is  busy with USA Network's Colony, FX's The Strain and Amazon's Jack Ryan, will exec produce alongside Lindsey Springer. William Bridges (Black Mirror) will pen the script as well as executive produce.

The project was written on spec by Bridges. With multiple studios bidding on the project, film and TV writer Bridges (Prize of Peril) met with producers instead with Cuse having the best vision. The project was then set up at A+E Studios.

Obicera One marks the first sale to come from Cuse's first-look pact with A+E Studios and a key off-network sale for the relatively new A+E Networks production company. Cuse's pact was the first of its kind for A+E Studios and comes as off-network sales are a rarity among the increased push for ownership amid the so-called Peak TV era.

For Hulu, the news comes as the streaming giant recently announced plans to abandon its free-TV plan in favor of a subscription-only plan. The streamer continues to build a roster of originals from outside producers including The Path (Universal Television) and Casual (Lionsgate TV), among others.

Cuse is repped by WME and Jackoway Tyerman. Bridges is with WME, Curtis Brown in the U.K. and Grandview.
