Watch the Trailer for CBS Medical Drama 'Code Black' (Exclusive Video)

CBS has released a new look at its medical drama Code Black.

The ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios co-production hails from creator Michael Seitzman (Intelligence). The series is based on Ryan McGarry's feature documentary about an understaffed emergency room team at Los Angeles County Hospital. Seitzman, McGarry, Marti Noxon and David Semel are executive producing.

In a promo exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter, senior nurse Jesse Salander (Luis Guzman) takes the hospital's latest recruits on a tour of the facilities. During the tour, residency director Dr. Leanne Rorish (Marcia Gay Harden) grabs the residents to help save a gunshot victim.

"I am replacing all of the patient's blood with ice cold saline," Dr. Rorish says. "We're going to kill him to save him."

The cast includes Bonnie Somerville (Golden Boy), Melanie Kannokada (The Brink) and Benjamin Hollingsworth (Backstrom), who all play first-year residents.

Code Black premieres Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 10 p.m. on CBS.
