Chance has seen its last day at Hulu.

The streaming outlet has canceled the Hugh Laurie drama after a two-season run.

The project, produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, was picked up straight-to-series and landed at Hulu with a two-season order after a multiple-network bidding war. Chance marked a series-regular return for Laurie after his eight-season run on House ended in 2012. The 20-episode psychological thriller, based on the novel of the same from Kem Nunn, had Laurie again playing a doctor, this time a forensic neuropsychiatrist who reluctantly gets sucked into a violent and dangerous world of mistaken identity, police corruption and mental illness.

Nunn executive produced the series with Michael London, Brian Grazer, Laurie and Lenny Abrahamson (Room), who also directed multiple episodes. Alexandra Cunningham (Desperate Housewives) exec produced and served as showrunner.

Hulu, like fellow streamers Amazon and Netflix, does not release ratings information. Chance has an 81 percent rating among critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an 87 percent score among viewers. The Hollywood Reporter chief TV critic Tim Goodman called it a "poster series" for the Peak TV explosion of originals, writing a column after the second-season (and now series) finale that the show got lost in the landscape of 487 scripted originals in 2017.

The decision to cancel Chance comes as Hulu is fresh off its first Emmy win for best drama series for The Handmaid's Tale. The streamer has a full slate of originals that also include recently renewed drama Runaways and comedy Future Man. Next up this year are Beau Willimon's ambitious space drama The First, starring Sean Penn; limited series The Looming Tower; Universal Television-produced The Path; and the Stephen King/J.J. Abrams anthology Castle Rock, among others. Hulu has started to better curate its scripted originals, having recently wrapped The Mindy Project, canceled Billy Eichner comedy Difficult People after three seasons and set the fourth and final season of Casual for this year.
