'Alias' Alum Checks Into 'Chicago Med' for Recurring Role

Carl Lumbly will play the husband of S. Epatha Merkerson's character.

A former member of SD-6 is checking into Chicago Med.

Alias alum Carl Lumbly has joined the forthcoming Chicago Fire spinoff in a recurring role, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Lumbly will play Bert Goodwin, the husband of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center Sharon (S. Epatha Merkerson). Once virile and robust, Bert suddenly comes down with a physical ailment that ultimately factors into his relationship with his wife and the hospital where she presides.

The cast of the drama, the second spinoff from Fire, also also includes Oliver PlattNick GehlfussYaya DaCostaColin DonnellBrian TeeTorrey DeVitto and Rachel DiPillo.

Best known for playing Sydney's longtime partner Marcus Dixon, Lumbly's other credits include Cagney & Lacey, Battlestar Galactica and Southland. He most recently recurred on Zoo and A&E's Returned remake. He is repped by Kass Management.

Chicago Med premieres Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
