Jeff and Some Aliens is taking off at Comedy Central.

A spinoff of a segment featured on the series TripTank, the project has been picked up to series, the network announced Wednesday.

From creators Sean Donnelly and Alessandro Minoli, Jeff and Some Aliens centers on Jeff (voiced by Married's Brett Gelman) and three extraterrestrials sent to Earth to study him to determine whether or not humanity should be destroyed. They constantly throw Jeff's mundane life into chaos — particularly when they make him participate in grueling intergalatic decathalons or perform Azurian honor killings to restore interstellar balance.

The 10-episode first season will debut in 2016 on Comedy Central.

“It would be so weird if this show wasn’t animated,” said Comedy Central president Kent Alterman.

Added Donnelly and Minoli: "We'd like to beat the trolls to the punch and be the first to say: 'They canceled Futurama for THIS?!'"

The duo will exec produce via ShadowMachine Studios along with TripTank executive producers Alex Bulkley and Corey Campondonico. TripTank features collections of animated shorts using various styles, a format that allows for Comedy Central to incubate subsequent series from the produced shorts.

Donnelly and Minoli are with Paradigm and attorney Jeff Endlich at Morris Yorn.
