Comedy Central Renews 'This Is Not Happening' for Season 2

This is not a test.

Comedy Central has renewed This Is Not Happening for a second season, the network announced Monday.

The eight-episode season two will premiere next year.

Hosted by comedian Ari Shaffir, the series features Shaffir and his diverse group of comedian friends sharing honest and hilarious stories in front of a live audience at the gentleman's club Cheetahs in Hollywood. Shaffir also executive produces the series with Jeff Tomsic, Eric Abrams and Avalon’s Sam Saifer.

"This Is Not Happening is not, not happening. It is happening," said Kent Alterman, Comedy Central's original programming president.

"Honestly, I'm really happy with the way it came out,” added Shaffir. “There are so many crazy talented comics right now. It's kind of an honor to provide a platform for them to show everybody how great they are."

Based on Shaffir's long-running live show, This Is Not Happening originally debuted as a digital series on before debuting on Comedy Central in January. It marked the first series to transition from digital production arm CC: Studios to TV.

The first season included Rob Corddry, D.L. Hughley, Keegan-Michael Key, Bert Kreischer, Marc Maron, Steve RannazzisiJoe Rogan and Paul Scheer.

Shaffir is repped by Gersh and Saifer.
