Confirming that their opening title sequence will get a complete makeover with every season, the creative team behind The CW's Crazy Ex Girlfriend announced Wednesday that the new clip will be getting an assist from music video royalty — director Joseph Kahn.

Kahn, the filmmaker behind more than 100 music videos from the likes of Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Eminem, Lady Gaga and Janet Jackson, will direct the new opening theme clip and the fourth episode of The CW musical comedy's upcoming third season.

The evolving theme tune is intended to reflect the mood of each season. The first set up the premise of the series, the second found the lead character Rebecca getting what she thought she wanted and the third, on the heels of her being left at the altar, will shift its focus to revenge. "It's the most arduous songwriting process," said creator and star Rachel Bloom, who also produces (on average) two new songs per episode.

"We did a lot of R&D for it," said co-creator and showrunner Aline Brosh McKenna. "They're not just songs, they're conceptual videos."

When asked to elaborate on the concept of the third season, both Bloom and McKenna hinted that things were going to get a little dark. Offered Bloom: "If you thought the show was going to be funny Fatal Attraction, that's where we are going into this season."
