Dan Fogelman is off to a strong development season start.

The Galavant and Grandfathered exec producer has nabbed a pilot production order for an untitled dramedy at NBC, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Fogelman's untitled hourlong dramedy is described as a unique ensemble following characters all born on the same day.

Fogelman will pen the script and executive produce alongside Jess Rosenthal and Charlie Gogolak (Back in the Game, Kyle XY). John Requa (Back in the Game) and Glenn Ficarra (Back in the Game) are set to direct the pilot and exec produce.

The untitled dramedy landed at NBC following a bidding war. NBC's plan is to hire a casting director shortly and film the pilot before year's end.

This marks Fogelman's (The Neighbors) first sale under his new, rich overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television. The visionary producer moved from ABC Studios last year after being pursued by multiple studios. Sources tell THR that Fogelman was unhappy that ABC passed on his untitled NBA comedy pilot starring Skylar Astin last season. That was one of three half-hour pilots Fogelman had in the works at ABC last season. The other, ABC's The King of 7B starring Craig Ferguson, did not move forward. Fox, meanwhile, picked up John Stamos starrer Grandfathered, giving Fogelman shows on two different networks during the 2015-16 broadcast season.

Fogelman is repped by WME and Hansen Jacobsen; Requa and Ficarra are with CAA and McKuin Frankel.
