Soon-to-launch streaming service DC Universe has cast a key role for its live-ction series Doom Patrol.

Joivan Wade (The First Purge) will play Victor Stone, aka Cyborg, on the one-hour drama. The character (also seen in the parallel DC movie universe, where he's played by Ray Fisher) is half human, half machine and the "ultimate hero for the digital age."

In Doom Patrol, Vic — who is hooked in to every computer in the world but struggles with the human side of connection — will assemble a group of outcasts (Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman, Crazy Jane and their leader, mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder) for a mission to the weirdest corners of the DC universe.

Doom Patrol comes from Supernatural veteran Jeremy Carver, who will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns and Sarah Schechter are also exec producers.

DC Universe is set to launch in the fall and will include original streaming series (with Titans first out of the gate), live-action and animated series and films from DC's catalog and a curated selection of new and classic DC Comics. The service's original series also include a live-action Swamp Thing and the animated shows Young Justice: Outsiders and Harley Quinn.

Wade has guest-starred on Doctor Who and appeared on several other U.K. series, including Eastenders, Youngers and Big School. He is repped by Atlas Artists, WME, Sainou and Gang, Tyre.
